Celebrity Ink Portrait Final

This is the final celebrity portrait. It's of Jake Gyllenhaal (with a beard). I think it does portray likeness though I aged him a bit. It was done in ink on bristol paper. The ink was done using a brush and pens.

Celebrity Heads

I don't usually do celebrity portraits and truth be told I do not like doing celebrity portraits. However, this was for a class. It was an ink experimentation so it was whatever you want to do with any form of ink for celebrity heads. I did a few of Matisyahu, Bob Marley, Cher, and Natalie Portman. Using ink, markers, pens, and even ballpoint pen on either bristol or watercolour paper. It was surprisingly fun because I was able to discover a lot of interesting and different uses/ways to use ink.

"Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor, the enemy of the people. It will keep you cramped and insane your whole life, and it is the main obstacle between you and your work" -Anne Lamott

My artwork is not intended to be perfect, it is not intended to be clean and it is not always intended to be beautiful. The work on this blog is purely experimental, it's made to let me learn and grow and constantly change the way that I work.

Hands!

This week I've been working on drawing hands. These are just sketchbook drawings of my left hand (I am right handed) doing things so that I could practice more.

The Tree Project

I've been working on a tree painting lately. The two tree drawings above are kind of like preliminaries for it. Everything else is just junk in my sketch book. I'm trying to work on a concept of a dead tree, but at the same time not make it depressing. It's quite difficult. Please enjoy.
